Skin care after depilation

After depilation, it is important to pay special attention to skin care and recovery. In this blog, Beauty Hunter will talk about the rules of skin care after depilation and which products will be useful for both the depilation professional and the client for home care.

Greetings to all beauty hunters!

Depilation is one of the most common procedures in the beauty world. But even the gentlest types of depilation can cause irritation, dryness, and skin sensitivity. Therefore, it is extremely important to pay special attention to skin recovery and care. Proper care after the procedure will help not only to prevent possible irritation and inflammation but also to ensure a long-lasting effect of smoothness.

It is important to know which methods and techniques can be used after depilation to maintain the health and beauty of the skin.

Why does the skin need special care after depilation

After depilation, the skin requires special care because the procedure can lead to temporary irritation and increased sensitivity. When hair is removed along with the root, the skin reacts with redness, irritation, or slight discomfort. These symptoms are normal, but they can be reduced with proper care.

To minimize the risk of irritation immediately after the procedure, the depilation professional must use antiseptic agents and soothing creams that will help avoid possible discomfort for the client.

The skin may also become dry after depilation, as some hair removal methods dry it out. To maintain softness and hydration, it is recommended to apply moisturizing creams or oils.

In addition, the skin needs time to recover after depilation. During this period, it is important to maintain it in proper condition to speed up the healing process and return it to its normal state. Regular hydration and gentle peeling will help prevent ingrown hairs — a common complication that causes a lot of discomfort and negatively affects the appearance of the skin.

Main rules of skin care after depilation

Let's derive an ideal and universal formula for skin care immediately after the procedure (steps that the master performs) and home care for the client.

As a rule, all brands of depilation products have special post-depilation care products in their assortment. Most of these products have a multifunctional effect, for example, simultaneously disinfecting, soothing, and moisturizing the skin.

Cleansing and disinfecting the skin immediately after depilation. It is mandatory to clean the skin of residual depilation products such as wax or talc. After cleansing, the master should treat the depilation zone with antiseptic agents, especially if the client has sensitive skin.
Ideally, Azulene post-depilation lotion or Universal pre/post-depilation oil by Italwax will work well.
  • Cooling and soothing. After depilation, the skin remains sensitive and inflamed for some time. To reduce redness and discomfort, it is useful to use cooling or soothing creams, gels, or lotions.
Cooling gel by Italwax or Refreshing gel by Sculptor effectively soothe unpleasant sensations after the procedure.
  • Moisturizing the skin in home care. Depilation can dry out the skin, so regular application of moisturizing creams or vegetable oils in home care will help restore the skin and keep it soft and elastic.
Post-depilation lotion-emulsion with white orchid by Italwax moisturizes the skin, relieves irritation, and provides sufficient nourishment to the skin after depilation
  • For clients prone to ingrown hairs after depilation, there are special products that prevent ingrown hairs. They should be used in home care within 7-10 days after the procedure. For example, Italwax has a special ingrown hair serum.
  • Regular peeling at home. Gentle peeling a few days after depilation will help reduce the risk of ingrown hairs and promote skin renewal. Use gentle exfoliants without abrasive particles, for example Soft exfoliating peeling by Sculptor.
  • SPF sun protection. After depilation, the skin becomes more sensitive to sunlight. It is recommended to use sunscreens with a high SPF to protect against aggressive ultraviolet rays.
  •

Also, there are general recommendations from depilation masters for clients after the procedure:

    • Avoid hot baths and visiting a sauna or steam room for a week after the procedure;
    • Avoid friction and skin irritation. That is, for a week after the procedure, minimize the impact on the skin with washcloths during a shower, do not wear tight clothing that fits tightly to the skin, and it is advisable to wear clothes and underwear made of natural materials.
    • Do not use irritating products containing alcohol, abrasive particles, or other aggressive ingredients in the composition.

Following these simple skin care rules after depilation will help you keep your skin beautiful and elastic, and avoid irritation and ingrown hairs.
